Course Description:

The Sport Pilot Certificate program is designed for individuals seeking a faster, more affordable entry into aviation. This course provides the essential knowledge and flight training needed to safely operate Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.With fewer flight hours required than the Private Pilot License, students can earn their certificate in as little as 20 flight hours (minimum per FAA guidelines), making it an ideal option for recreational pilots or those looking to get started in aviation with lower time and cost commitments.

What You Need to Begin:

To start your training, you must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. You’ll also need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or obtain TSA clearance, along with a student pilot certificate.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Be at least 17 years old
  2. Hold a valid U.S. driver’s license
    • Used as evidence of medical eligibility in place of an FAA medical certificate, as long as you are not aware of any condition that would make you unsafe to fly.
  3. Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
  4. Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  5. Pass the FAA Sport Pilot Knowledge Test
    • A written multiple-choice exam covering aeronautical knowledge, weather, regulations, navigation, and aircraft systems.
  6. Pass a Practical Test
    • Conducted by an FAA-designated pilot examiner (DPE) or authorized instructor, including an oral exam and a flight test.
